Motorola Orthogon Wireless Systems
Motorola is known around the world for innovation and leadership in wireless and broadband communications. Inspired by our vision of Seamless Mobility, the people of Motorola are committed to helping you get and stay connected simply and seamlessly to the people, information, and entertainment that you want and need. We do this by designing and delivering "must have" products, "must do" experiences and powerful networks — along with a full complement of support services. Motorola is leading the broadband evolution with a portfolio of advanced technologies making wireless data transfer fast and easy, as needed for true seamless mobility.
Operating in the 5.8 GHz, 5.4 GHz and 4.9 GHz (public safety) frequencies, the Motorola 400 and 600 families of point-to-point wireless Ethernet bridges can deliver up to 99.999% availability in even the most challenging situations - in non-line-of-sight environments, over long distances, and across water and open terrain. It's a unique claim in the point-to-point broadband wireless world where 95% availability or less is often the norm.
So how does Motorola deliver carrier-class connections where other approaches fall short?
- First, Motorola adds intelligence to proven technologies like OFDM, adaptive modulation and dynamic frequency selection.
- Then Motorola combines these technologies with its own breakthrough hardware and software innovations to offer solutions with the highest levels of performance and reliability.
These unique and powerful technologies combine to overcome the signal attenuation, fading, dispersion and polarization that degrade all radio signals:
- Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) - minimizes signal fading due to path obstructions or atmospheric disturbances
- Intelligent Orthogonal Frequency Division Muliplexing (i-OFDM) - transmits data on multiple frequencies, resulting in higher channel bandwidth and greater resistance to interference and signal fading
- Advanced Spectrum Management with i-DFS (Intelligent Dynamic Frequency Selection) - self-selects the frequency over which it can sustain the highest data rate at the highest availability
- Adaptive Modulation - continually optimizes modulation to transmit the maximum amount of data across the path while maintaining the highest levels of link quality
- Spatial Diversity - combats ducting and multipath fading via space-diverse antennas at one or both ends of a link
- Best-in-Class Radios - incorporate powerful transmitters and super-sensitive receivers that deliver a system gain as much as 25 times better than the nearest competitor
The Motorola 600 Series point-to-point 5.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz wireless Ethernet bridges provide more range and capacity in near- and non-line-of-sight (NLoS) environments, delivering carrier-grade service (99.999% availability).
Motorola combines Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) and Intelligent Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing with advanced signal-processing algorithms, allowing 600 Series solutions to create four simultaneous signals between pairs of transceivers at each end of the link - without losing spectrum efficiency. This technique increases signal integrity by an unprecedented 300 times.
With aggregate throughput up to 300 Mbps on a 30 MHz channel, 600 Series solutions deliver 300% greater spectral efficiency than our nearest competitor. These systems are particularly well-suited for applications and networks that require high throughput and T1/E1 capability because they build in extra features that promote greater speed and mitigate RF interference. The T1/E1 ports mean that you can bundle circuit-switched connectivity with IP voice, video and data communications.
The PTP 600 Series solutions are designed to handle a wide variety of applications and environmental requirements:
- PTP 58600 Integrated - with data rates up to 300 Mbps and a built-in antenna
- PTP 58600 Connectorized - with data rates up to 300 Mbps and the high-gain advantage of external antennas
- PTP 58600 Lite (Integrated and Connectorized) - with data rates up to 150 Mbps
Built-in Security and Optional AES Encryption: Because each radio is pre-programmed with the MAC address of its matched partner, the two ends of a link will communicate only with each other eliminating "man in the middle" attacks. Each matched pair also employs a complex scrambling mechanism that offers a high degree of security for over-the-air transmissions. In addition, you can choose to augment these security capabilities with 128-bit or 256-bit AES encryption. While the matched radios and scrambling mechanism are included with each system at no additional charge, there is a one-time licensing fee to implement AES encryption on any 600 Series system. Contact your Motorola Point-to-Point Solution Provider to implement AES encryption on your new or existing systems.
